Verizon Wireless finally announced Wednesday evening that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus would launch on Thursday. Though the sleek Android 4.0 smartphone is already available for half price, a number of Android fans lined up outside Verizon Wireless retail stores eager to purchase the Nexus phone they’ve been waiting impatiently for since we first began reporting exclusive information about the device back in June. The turnout isn’t quite what Samsung’s stiffest competitor draws when it releases a new iPhone, but we rarely see lines form for smartphone launches so this could indicate healthy demand for the world’s first 4G LTE-enabled Ice Cream Sandwich phone.
