Archos 97 Carbon is an entry-level Ice Cream Sandwich tablet with 9.7-inch screen

Archos announced a new tablet for folks on a budget. The all-new Archos 97 Carbon comes with a 9.7-inch 1024×768 pixels screen, Wi-Fi connectivity, 2-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing one, HDMI out, USB port, 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, memory card slot, while Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is running the show. In other words, specs wise it’s pretty similar to the original iPad though with dual cameras. Moreover, it also looks pretty cool not least thanks to its “elegant aluminum finish,” offering a solid bang for the buck for $249.99. The problem is that Nexus 7 costs $50 less and it comes with better hardware under the hood (though also a smaller screen).
Finally, when it comes to availability, Archos’ new tablet will hit store shelves later this month. If there were no for Google’s tablet, Archos would have some chances; however, because there are other options out there, I doubt the French company has much chances in moving a critical number of Carbon units…
