Microsoft has kicked off a global Windows 8 launch celebration in China and gave consumers a sneak peek at new hardware, only a few days before Windows 8's availability. This is the first stop in a series of Windows 8 celebrations around the world.
"Microsoft has a more than 20-year history in the Greater China Region, and we are excited to start our Windows 8 launch series in Shanghai, China, the largest PC market in the world. Windows 8 ushers in a new era with amazing experiences for Chinese consumers and commercial customers and creates new opportunities for Microsoft partners," Corporate VP of Microsoft and CEO of Microsoft China, Ralph Haupter stated. Microsoft's Steven Sinofsky also attended the celebration in China and Microsoft also showcased the Surface tablet powered by Windows RT at the event. China has become the number 2 market worldwide for all the apps available in the Windows Store at launch.
